Eren is a research associate with a background in pharmacology and neuroscience. Having graduated from King’s college Eren ventured into the world of clinical trials, working in particular within the field of oncology. Having led studies in H&N, Liver and breast cancers he then moved back to Kings College and joined Mark Richardson’s Team for the REALASE study.
The study will investigate whether a novel method to accurately count epileptic seizures, using a CE-marked minimally-invasive ultra long-term subcutaneous electrical brain wave (encephalogram, EEG) device called UNEEG™ SubQ, (i) is more accurate than a seizure diary; (ii) is feasible and acceptable to participants and clinicians; (iii) reduces impacts of epilepsy and improves quality-of-life; and (iv) provides gains to the healthcare system when rolled-out into the NHS.
Helped create an osteoarthritis research group within the department of immunology and inflammation. Carrying out lab work, writing SOPs and contributing to the development of new study protocols.
Maintained a portfolio of over 20 clinical trials and managed a team of five other clinical trials specialists. Liaised with PI’s and postdoctoral researchers to manage translational studies in the breast cancer research team.
Worked at the Wellcome/EPSRC Centre for Interventional and Surgical Sciences (WEISS) in the SmartLiver project. This biotechnology trial involves the use of image-guided laparoscopic surgery.
Worked in two separate departments (Oncology and Haematology), simultaneously fulfilling multiple roles. Was key in patient consenting, blood and urine processing and maintenance of the site file.
Worked alongside Professor Iain Hutchison, shadowing the maxillofacial surgeon as he conducted his clinics. Also worked on the National H&N audit, consented patients and oversaw the development of many trials.
Spent 9 months volunteering for the vocational rehab team in UCL hospital, doing data entry and assisting on the set up of upcoming trials.
The Richardson Lab comprises a team of researchers from several different disciplines, including neurology, psychology, engineering and physics. We study the brain as an entire functioning system, rather than studying small components of the brain.
