As a Senior Research Fellow in Machine Learning in the Department of Neuroscience, I am working on a research project that applies AI and Natural Language Processing (NLP) to electronic health records. The objective is to identify drug combinations that enable refractory epilepsy patients to change from having seizures to being seizure-free. The project is led by Prof. Mark Richardson and Prof. James Teo. I am also an Affiliate at King’s Institute for Artificial Intelligence.
Previously, I was a Leverhulme Early Career Fellow at Queen Mary University of London where for my own research project I applied NLP for the computational analysis of literary texts. I am particularly interested in using cutting-edge NLP tools, including Large Language Models, to expand our understanding of how narratives operate in the digital age, including but not limited to medical and literary environments. I have also taught at the University of York in the UK.
The Richardson Lab comprises a team of researchers from several different disciplines, including neurology, psychology, engineering and physics. We study the brain as an entire functioning system, rather than studying small components of the brain.
